Position Summary:

The Buyer/Planner is responsible for purchasing merchandise, materials, components, equipment, and/or services; perform a variety of production planning activities required to attain production objectives.

Duties & Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Control inventory impact by analyzing MOQ vs consumption
  • Maintain Inventory records on MRP System.
  • Maintain MRP health by aligning PO dates and managing PO quantities
  • Create & process purchase order & confirmations.
  • Manage & review inventory levels, Part Maintenance & Open Purchase order reports.
  • Prepare quotes & update pricing.
  • Review Purchase orders & confirmation for correct pricing.
  • Negotiate with suppliers to attain lowest possible total cost for purchased commodities. Monitor cost, delivery, product quality or performance and inventory.
  • Source out new vendors for new and existing products.
  • Develop & maintain positive relationships with vendors.
  • Good communication & organizational skills
  • Work closely with QA to follow correct procedure for Newly Approved Vendors and update vendor list
  • Track progression of production orders, investigate factors that affect schedules, and modify plans as necessary
  • Analyze shortages by work order and/or customer order and communicate to Production
  • Communicate frequently and proactively with customer service teams to meet or exceed customer expectations and establish effective relationships.
Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor Degree from an accredited institution.
  • Two (2) to five (5) years of relevant experience required in Purchasing/Planning; previous experience within in a regulated medical device or pharmaceutical environment required.
  • Working knowledge of current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and ISO 9001 strongly preferred.
  • Computer literacy required; knowledge of MRP software systems, Microsoft Office and experience with large enterprise resource planning (ERP) system required.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills are essential.
  • Good planning, organizational and time management skills are required.
