Position Summary:

The Machine Maintenance Mechanic (Level I) will perform a wide range of operations associated with the maintenance, repair, set-up, adjusting and operating of all types of manufacturing equipment in rapid diagnostic test at Chembio.

Duties & Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Operate equipment for manufacturing as needed, Machine Set-up and change over per SOP, includes preforming leak testing if applicable.
  • Line calls with level II Mechanic
  • Work Orders/ Logbook documentation
  • Performing updates, repairs and adjustments of manufacturing equipment.
  • Performing preventative maintenance on manufacturing-related equipment and maintaining records on file.
  • Ability to diagnose & troubleshoot manufacturing equipment (to recognize and identify potential problems with equipment).
  • Must be able to remove, replace, align, adjust and make necessary correction on all mechanical equipment in a timely matter.
  • Makes general mechanical and minor electrical repairs to manufacturing equipment.
  • Performs equipment housekeeping. This includes performing all job clean up as related to maintenance tasks, duties and functions.
  • Be able to identify equipment related safety issues.
  • Performs LOTO Policy and Procedure, as required by SOP.
  • Completing maintenance work requests in a timely manner.
  • May be required to run manufacturing equipment as to meet Department, Manufacturing or business needs
  • Will be required to lift 50+ lbs, fill up bins, hoppers etc. and maintain production materials on the line as required.
  • Performing projects as determined by the Assembly Supervisor, Lead Machine Maintenance Mechanic and Sr. Manager Facilities and Maintenance
  • Other duties as needed to meet Department, Manufacturing or business needs
Qualifications Required:
  • Mechanical Aptitude
  • Familiar with efficiency and quality measurements
  • Have good situational judgment and decision making skills.
  • Knowledge of packaging and automated equipment.
  • Able to perform repairs and adjustment of manufacturing equipment
  • Understand and follow company policies and procedures on Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s & SOP’s).
  • Must be flexible to working hours including overtime & weekends
