Position Summary:      The Shipping and Receiving Manager is responsible for the timely processing of received goods and shipments. They are also responsible for the maintenance of inventory materials related to the production and assembly of Chembio rapid diagnostic tests.

Duties & Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Ensure staff is trained, documented and maintained with all safety and OSHA requirements of a warehousing and shipping operation.
  • Manage the warehousing program and crew to meet the production plan shipment schedule. Develop weekly work content-based assignment plans that meet the storage space and delivery requirement. Ensure contingency plans are in place.
  • Supervise and schedule the Warehouse staff based on production requirements, Supply Chain requirements and Quality Requirements.
  • Ensure staff is trained and document all training per QMS. Cross-training required.
  • Develop and manage the warehouse crew, deliver timely performance feedback and maintain high performance standards
  • Correctly process received goods in a timely manner.
  • Ensure all shipments are correctly packaged per Stability / Transit studies, and shipped to the desired destinations as directed by the originator.
  • Proper storage of products and raw materials per RMS and QMS.
  • Maintain neat, well organized and safe warehouse and storage locations as outlined in SOP’s using Lean methods such as 5S, poka-yoke, and APICS based best practices. .
  • Ensure raw materials related to Production and Assembly are properly allocated through the MRP system.
  • Ensure inventories are accurate and raw materials are maintained in designated locations.
  • Directing transportation activities at Hauppauge and Medford, related to scheduled pick-ups of bulk shipments, as well as work in process movement of inventory and components per manufacturing plans.
  • Coordinate and complete International transit documentation packets, Ensure IATA compliance, and 3rd party pick-ups and shipments.
  • Categorize, organize, forecast, and maintain a minimum/maximum level of shipping and non-inventory supplies that is based upon build forecasts, shipping forecasts, and onsite inventory carrying capacity.
  • Develop documentation to improve quality of service, quality of shipping materials, and levels of performance. This includes SOP continuous improvement, specification development, and key metrics for Warehouse performance.
  • Tracking of daily and monthly shipping reports.
  • Develop, track and manage to the goals, objectives and budget of the Warehouse Department including managing labor costs.

Qualifications Required

  • 5-7 Years Managing Warehousing operations for $50M /yr. regulated business. Previous experience In a Regulated Medical Device or Pharmaceutical Environment strongly preferred.
  • BS Industrial Engineering, Business Management, Accounting or Supply Chain disciplines
  • Knowledge and experience with all OHSA requirements for a warehousing, shipping and forklift operation.
  • Detailed knowledge and experience of UPS/FEDEX and other freight forwarding programs, World Courier receiving and shipping procedures preferred.
  • Detailed knowledge and experience of other related overnight carriers, overland LTL, and on-line quotation services
  • Computer knowledge to include Microsoft products and MRP-related software.
  • In-depth knowledge of MRP systems as it related to materials handling, receiving and shipping.
  • APICS or other industry recognized professional association certifications preferred.
  • Experience in Bar Coding Systems and their implementation into a Warehousing program.
  • Experience with Export Documentation preparation and processing. IATA document processing preferred.
  • Routing Guide Implementation and ongoing maintenance for ERP system
  • Support Service Level agreements for processing cycle times and QMS compliance.
  • Thorough understanding of inventory cycle count program, financial impacts and year end internal audit process.
